Trusopt – Dorzolamide 2%

ORANGE TOP (5ml,10ml)

Azopt – Brinzolamide 1%

ORANGE TOP (2.5ml, 5ml, 10ml, 15ml)
Shake well before each use

Drug Use: This medication is used to lower the pressure inside the eye.

Possible Side Effects

  • Redness to eyes (bloodshot appearance)
  • Irritation - burning and stinging
  • Allergic reaction (redness and itching)

Rare Side Effects

  • Bitter or Metallic taste
  • Head Ache
  • Stomach upset

Trusopt stings when first put in the eye. This stinging goes away after a few minutes.

Helpful Information:

  • Spread drops evenly throughout the day (every 12 hours for twice daily).
  • If you are using other eye drops make sure they are spaced at least 10 minutes apart.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is within 6 hours of your next dose.
  • For maximum effectiveness close your eyes gently for 2-3 minutes after instillation of eye drops.
  • The preservative in this drop (benzalkonium chloride) may be absorbed by soft contact lenses. If you wear soft contact lenses you should wait at least 15 minutes after instilling this drop to put your soft contact lenses back in.

Please notify your doctor if you have any of the following medical problems, caution is warranted in using this medication.

  • Allergy to Sulfa medications
  • Severe kidney disease

If you run out of medications please contact your doctor immediately to arrange a refill. If you stop taking this medication for any reason it is important to let the doctor know as soon as the medication is discontinued. Always use your eye-drops as scheduled on the day of your doctor’s appointment!
