Xalatan – Latanoprost 0.005%

BLUE GREEN TOP (2.5ml)

Lumigan – Bimatoprost 0.004%

Drug Use: This medication is used to lower the pressure inside the eye.

Medications can be stored at room temperature. Discard bottle after it has been opened for more than 6 weeks.

Eye redness and mild discomfort are common when first starting these drops. These effects usually become much less noticeable over the first few weeks. Notify Dr. DeBry if you experience constant blurred vision or significant discomfort.

Possible Side Effects

  • Redness to eyes (bloodshot appearance)
  • Eye discomfort (burning and stinging)
  • Allergic reaction (redness and itching)
  • Increased growth of eyelashes
  • Iris color changes (rare in blue or dark brown eyes)
  • Darkening of skin around eyes

Helpful Information:

  • If you are using other eye drops make sure they are spaced at least 10 minutes apart.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is within 8 hours of your next dose.
  • For maximum effectiveness close your eyes gently for 2-3 minutes after instillation of eye drops.
  • The preservative in these drops (benzalkonium chloride) may be absorbed by soft contact lenses. If you wear soft contact lenses you should wait at least 15 minutes after instilling the medication to put your soft contact lenses back in.

Please notify your doctor if you have any of the following medical problems, caution is warranted in using this medication.

  • Current pregnancy or planned attempts to become pregnant

If you run out of medications please contact your doctor immediately to arrange a refill. If you stop taking this medication for any reason it is important to let the doctor know as soon as the medication is discontinued. Always use your eye-drops as scheduled on the day of your doctor’s appointment!
